Australian fatty liver disease study, a partnership with primary care
Nonalcoholic Fatty liver Disease (NAFLD-RRR)
Implementing the Right Care, in the Right Place, at the Right time
A place to learn
Welcome
This site has been created to help raise awareness about nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and the people who are most at risk of this.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease worldwide. It is a metabolic disease, closely associated with type 2 diabetes, obesity and elevated cholesterol.
The NAFLD-RRR study is about helping people with type 2 diabetes get their liver checked as part of their usual diabetes care plans. Click here for details.
You can use this site to stay up to date about our research studies, access short education summaries, post comments and read my thoughts on journal articles I use to guide my own practice.
Disclaimer: these are my personal opinions and are not intended as a systematic unbiased review of the literature.

How to get involved
If you are interested in learning about and improving health care for people with liver disease and type 2 diabetes we would love to hear from you.
Schedule an education meeting
Our team loves talking about liver disease and can come out to your clinic during a lunch time meeting or organise an online webinar.
Refer for a liver health check
As part of routine diabetes care we want to make sure people are getting their eyes, feet, kidneys and livers checked!
FibroScan costs ~$300 privately but by being involved in research you can get access to this for free. Our clinics include:
- FibroScan (Free!)
- Review of recent bloods
- Results and guidance returned to GP
Improve GP letters
Everyone who gets a liver health check has the results sent back to their GP. We want this communication to be as useful as possible.
We will send you an example letter and ask for your feedback on:
- Structure
- Content
- Readability
Number of GP practices involved:
Number of GPs who have contributed to improving letters:
